downloaded FreeBSD 5.3-RC1 mininst.iso. ran install, get to the point after copying files and says "Unable to get packages/INDEX file from selected media." looked at FTP site, got error "550 Can't change directory to /pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-5.3-release/: Permission denied".
