Well, I specifically avoided any reference to consent. And you'd be right about the timing if this were code. I expected some kind of negative feedback, but in view of the fact that this is a man page, and the current text was *very* confusing, I thought it would be better to commit now and correct later. > Although the restructuring makes some information easier to digest, > I think in other ways, this is a step in the wrong direction: it is > too i386-centric, Good point. It probably should be moved to man8.i386, and a similar one to man8.alpha. > and IMO anything relating to the slice structure (boot0cfg and > fdisk) has no business being discussed here. Man pages have always referred to other man pages. Granted, this reference is a little longer, but in view of the fact that this is not discussed anywhere else, I think it's appropriate. It's almost impossible for somebody who doesn't know the code intimately (and that includes most of the committers) to make sense of what we had there. > (Even the pre-existing reference to the fdisk table in the BUGS > section would be better discarded.) I think the reference to fdisk is appropriate; it's an area where things can trip over each other. On the other hand, I *did* remove a reference to the Tahoe partitioning method. > A sample specific gripe: > >> The booteasy bootstrap manager >> >> FreeBSD supplies a boot manager called booteasy which resides in >> the Master Boot Record. You can't use boot0cfg to install booteasy. Ah. Then I misunderstood your recent mail message. Why do we have two programs to do the same thing? Any other comments?
