After shooting myself in the foot a couple of times, I'd like to propose that the login.conf values cannot be set below values that would render the machine inoperable. It's all too easy to type 20 instead of 20M when setting datasize or stack size. Unfortunately this causes the machine to go into a coma at the next reboot.
