Explain what your setup is? FreeBSD is the gateway for your lan? I dont understand why you need to use DHCP internally unless you have some special deal where you get multiple external IP's? Is the system that stops working your gateway? Before you said you couldnt even ping your gateway? Please clarify your topology :) Kal.
