would smbclient, smbstatus, smbtar etc go in /usr/local/bin ?

Also, on the same note as a current thread, shouldn't the config
files go in /etc?

(Seems like the settings for samba are similar to NFS ane /etc/exports
in function so I put them in /etc when I installed on my box)

Other than that, go for it, I've done this long ago.
