Okay, i just did a complete installworld + installkernel after  
updating my cvs sources today, and the behavior is unchanged. If this  
is going to stay unfixed for 7.0-release there needs to be a big  
warning somewhere that the sata300 tx4 card is broken and should not  
be used.

Myself, i'm still saving up for that Areca card...
