Hi everyone, Greetings from Adelaide, South Australia. This is my first posting so if I've left out any valuable information, firstly my apologies and secondly please let me know what else is required. I recently cvsupped a server to 4.5 Stable, and up until that time the unit was successfully running a Seagate STT8000A/5.51 ide tape backup unit. Following the version upgrade the tape drive is no longer responsive and any attempts to query the device result in the process hanging. I have some output here from what I think to be relevant sections: Output from atacontrol list: su-2.05# atacontrol list ATA channel 0: Master: ad0 <QUANTUM FIREBALL SE6.4A/API.0C00> ATA/ATAPI rev 3 Slave: ast0 <Seagate STT8000A/5.51> ATA/ATAPI rev 0 ATA channel 1: Master: ad2 <IBM-DTLA-305020/TW2OA60A> ATA/ATAPI rev 5 Slave: no device present Relevent lines from most recent kernel rebuild (20020417): ast0: TAPE <Seagate STT8000A> at ata0-slave PIO4 ast0: failure to execute ATAPI packet command If I run the following command the process hangs in the kernel and cannot be released or stopped, only a reboot will clear the process: mt -f /dev/ast0 status This is the relevant line from ps -ax, resulting from running the above command: 253 p0- DE 0:00.01 mt -f /dev/ast0 status Thanks for taking the time to read this, I hope someone can assist me.
