It sounds like PackageNG is working on only a small part of the project we
are tackling and can  probably be assimilated into the OP project at the
appropriate time.  However, I am not entirely clear as to the PackageNG
goals, but it doesn't appear that we can do much about them until they
have progressed further.  

So I guess OP just needs to keep plugging along.
