my workstation is a dual PIII-550 on an Asus P2B-D with 256 MB ram.
i've had ZERO problems with this hardware setup. its an older chipset (440BX) but
rock-damned-solid.
makes one HELLUVA workstation (:

i guess, in general, i've always had GREAT luck with ASUS mobos.  they just work,
they're solid, and have a very configurable bios.
so, i can't speak for any of the newer chipsets in regards to SMP, but, its hard
to go wrong with Asus, IMHO.
