According the documentation on XFree86 4.0 at their site, there is only one server, called XFree86, which has various drivers. There is a driver called ATI which supports Mach64 Rage Mobility, but without acceleration. XFree86 3.3.6 ATI driver for SVGA server does this as well. If you are talking about 3.3.6 Mach64 server, then yes, it recognizes this videochip/card, but it requires completely different X video mode settings (synchronisation). If I start it with a mode of the patched 3.3.5 server, I get either flashing screen or dualized picture. I don't want to experiment much with settings, because I haven't found any examples of 1400x1050 settings and I don't want to damage my display. So, is the documentation wrong or you are using another server? What video settings?
