I've got 4 CD of FreeBSD4.7 How can I know if program I want to install is in ports or in pakages of my CDs? I've copied all INDEX form /cdrom/pakages of each CD and can know whether it in in pakages, but when it is not I look in /ust/ports The problem is: when installing from ports I don't want "make" to fetch all required ports from the internet if they are in packages in CDs. How do I automate this process? (I've heard that I can use packages if they are or should I install them manually)? How do I know what ports/packages are required at all?
