Instead of jumping down his throat why not take a step back, try to understand what he's trying to do (and you don't, obviously) and then try to help him accomplish it? Yes, he made some mistakes with how his ports are named, big freakin' deal. Why would you want to immediately make a federal case out of it and possibly discourage a new committer from taking further action?
