Absolutely.

We can only document what we can test.  I had an abortive -stable to
-current experience a week ago, which is why the section in the 
Handbook hasn't been updated -- I've used a binary upgrade to go from
3.x to 4.0.

If you've had it work successfully, submit doc patches.  People will thank
you.
