Could you list manufacturer of the drive, as well as to which port the
drive was connected? Did BIOS detect the drive properly? What FreeBSD
version?

No. FBSD supports IDE drives, 66MBit/s is supported since 4.0.
Otherwise, the drive would fall back automatically to UDMA 33 or PIO.
