[-- Attachment #1 --] Hi All I had a 4.0 box that I upgraded to 4.2-STABLE. It is an internal test box. Now I cannot ftp into the box. It does not matter if I use inetd to start ftpd or if I remove it from inetd and start it by hand. I start it with ftpd -D -d -l and I don't get any log messages anywhere (and I added ftp.* and *.* to syslog.conf). If I try and ftp into the box I get (immediately) 421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection. If I look at the netstat -t is listening on *.ftp . A ps -ax | grep ftpd shows it running. The above message also comes when I start ftpd from inetd without -wW . I have tried everything. It never even asks for a username. /etc/ftpusers does not get used in that case. ftp was working on this machine before the upgrade. Any thoughts or comments to help me out?
