There's nothing obviously wrong in Xorg.0.log - it looks like the X server started successfully and then shut down cleanly. Presumably the xorg.conf.new is the result of "Xorg -configure". How about supplying the command line you used to start X, the output written to the console and anything else you did between starting X and getting the console prompt back. -- Peter Jeremy
