Hi folks, Well, I'd love to run somewhat-CURRENT. But I can't. Still. I know this is a whine and complaint, but folks, this is getting serious around here. We're well over a month into this now since I first reported this, and it hasn't gotten any significant attention at all. Also, the number of things that are "fixed in current" is great -- if you can *run* -current. We can't. The reason is that *ANY* attempt to execute a program off an NFS mounted disk in -current causes page-not-present and page-fault panics in the kernel. Perhaps not the first thing you try to run. But this is reproduceable within *five minutes* here in our environment. Is there any work being done in this area? If not, does anyone have a *concise* list of the area that got fubar'd during the merge so I have some chance of working up a fix for this? Terry Lambert has pointed me in the "right direction", but from a quick examination it looks like a *lot* of things in the FS interface have changed between the abstraction and actual FS layers -- which implies that my odds of getting this right anytime soon (since I didn't do the merge in the first place) is somewhere between slim and none.
