Just thought I would try to add another data point, but it seems to have
something to do with permissions. That is, if I run as a user in the vboxusers
group, it segfaults; running as root (via sudo for example), works fine.

A *quick* look at the files doesn't seem like anything has changed between the
two boot environments (attached from another user). All the same files have the
setuid bit for root.

Not really knowing much more, I'd hazard to guess something with permission
checking has changed in FreeBSD and this is a symptom (i.e., the change isn't
in VirtualBox).

Sorry, that's about all I can do for the moment.
