Just because there is a macro that emits a particular character does not mean that one should always use the macro rather than the character. .Pq/Po/Pc are there for when you need parsed arguments (e.g., ".Pq Li FOO"), not for insertion into text at random. There's a reason why mdoc(7) goes to the lengths it does to recognize punctuation. -GAWollman
