OK, we're coming a long way David, but the thing for which egcs was chosen doesn't quite work according to autoconf: checking for gcc... cc checking whether the C compiler (cc -Os -pipe ) works... yes checking whether the C compiler (cc -Os -pipe ) is a cross-compiler... no checking whether we are using GNU C... yes checking whether cc accepts -g... yes checking for c++... c++ checking whether the C++ compiler (c++ ) works... no configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot create executables. *** Error code 1 That's the www/libwww port.
