Well, people might think that all electric items in Japan are the cheapest, but it is not true quiet often. Sometimes the market in Japan is monopolistic, and we have to pay more than in US. When I need good PC parts, I purchase them direct from US. U2W/U160 scsi cards, 1000TB lan cards, etc. I got in touch with sales staff of Hard Data, and I think I can get a good price quote.
