This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------080007020005090304060001 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Ever since installing 5.4 on this machine, it has been frequently locking up. This machine was running 5.3-RELEASE for several months without exhibiting similar symptoms. The machine becomes unresponsive to console and TCP connections (ssh), however remains pingable. This last time I left it alone for several (15-20) minutes after breaking to DDB to get a trace and it actually came back to life. This behavior is different than what I experienced with 5.4-Beta1 and 5.4-RC2, where it would hang for an indefinite period of time (i.e hours before I would reboot). I've included copies of ddb's ps output and a dmesg as attachments. Here is a trace (pid 95 is bufdaemon): Tracing pid 95 tid 100106 td 0xc353d900 kdb_enter(c08aaebc,1f960,40,c353d900,c35cb800) at kdb_enter+0x30 siointr1(c35cb800,c369f5c0,e68dbc30,e68dbc18,c081ee1e) at siointr1+0xd1 siointr(c35cb800,c38ac710,e68dbc14,4,c353d900) at siointr+0x42 intr_execute_handlers(c3477490,e68dbc30,e68dbc7c,c081b763,34) at intr_execute_handlers+0x85 lapic_handle_intr(34) at lapic_handle_intr+0x3b Xapic_isr1() at Xapic_isr1+0x33 --- interrupt, eip = 0xc07b98b2, esp = 0xe68dbc74, ebp = 0xe68dbc7c --- ufs_lock(e68dbc98,c0655966,e68dbcbc,10,100500) at ufs_lock vn_lock(c39f0318,12,c353d900,c353d900,c0954160) at vn_lock+0x151 flushbufqueues(0,c0954160,44,c0899fe6,a) at flushbufqueues+0x33e buf_daemon(0,e68dbd48,0,0,0) at buf_daemon+0x13a fork_exit(c06b1e59,0,e68dbd48) at fork_exit+0x7f fork_trampoline() at fork_trampoline+0x8 --- trap 0x1, eip = 0, esp = 0xe68dbd7c, ebp = 0 --- Thanks in advance, -Ash --------------080007020005090304060001 Content-Type: text/plain; name="dmesg.boot" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline; filename="dmesg.boot" Copyright (c) 1992-2005 The FreeBSD Project.
