That sounds much better to me.

Will you take it up with the openssh-portable folks?  I think the right
contact address is <openssh-unix-dev@mindrot.org>.

Once a better approach is available, I don't mind my patch being
reverted.  In fact, I don't mind it being reverted right now either. :-)
