On several occasions, I witnessed numerous fixes being backported to active branches. Example: https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/pull/142907 This PR was backported to 8.19, 9.2 and 9.3 (scroll down to see referenced PRs). Note that 9.1 was omitted.
