hi

i have compiled freeBSD 3.4 SMP. but when i try to boot it the kernel
shows "Testing APIC 8254" and then it hangs. earlier i had run mptable
and it showed:I/O APICs:
----------------------
{Lots of stuff}....

 APIC ID Version State Address
                 2 0x20 usable 0xfec00000
                 3 0x20 usable 0xfd8df000

and then......

options SMP # Symmetric MultiProcessor
Kernel
options APIC_IO # Symmetric (APIC) I/O

# Optional (built-in defaults will work in most cases):
#options NCPU=2 # number of CPUs
#options NBUS=6 # number of busses
#options NAPIC=2 # number of IO APICs
#options NINTR=24 # number of INTs

i am totally clueless. whats going on???

thanx in advance

joy
