Xaccel (by default) uses /etc/Xaccel.ini XF86_S3 uses /etc/XF86Config I can start xdm by hashing out :1 local /usr/X11R6/bin/Xaccel :1 and then xinit -- /usr/X11R6/bin/Xaccel :1, and that works.
