No, you must take care that newer gcc will be installed on /usr/local/bin and not in /usr/bin, check this forum entry: http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=7035 (it's the first one on my other post) You can use the newer gcc for you apps if you want, i made the change some months ago and i'm a happy clang/llvm user now.
