In the same way that many C programs do different things based upon the
release date of the OS, could we add a version or release date variable to
bsd.port.mk ?

This way, we could do tests against that value in a pre-fetch stage, and
if the release was too old and we require a newer version, warn the user
and break instead of support all these people who simply need a newer copy
of the file.

Thoughts ?
