*shrug*  I don't care about the bloat.  I just figured some rancid
floppy jockey would pipe up. :-)

Regardless of whether the builtin printf is dropped from the shell, it's
still been a useful exercise to exorcise it from the startup scripts
that are run before /usr is mounted, so I'm happy.
