Users depending on mod_perl2 can always use the described workaround from the warning or ports/UPDATING:20140713 during package building Overwrite the default apache version for port/package building: $ echo "DEFAULT_VERSIONS+=apache=2.2" >> /etc/make.conf Anyway waiting until mod_perl2 has support for apache24 has also some drawbacks also the mod_perl2 / apache24 issues are well known since 2012. -- olli
