While logically an excellent idea, it is a bit impractical. I tested
several firmware versions, and rejected them for instability. This was
noted to my DPT technical/OEM contact. The version I use currently, is 7LR.
I tried later versions but they did very ugly things to my RAID-5 arrays.
Not the symptoms you describe, but just as ugly.
The firmware versions I use are always available from my ftp server. Maybe
I should include the firmware with the driver release. That is difficult
to do as it is a copyrighted material, NOT under Berkeley license.
I am open to suggenstions. The thing that is pretty clear here, is that we
need a way to make a ``FreeBSD-Certified'' firmware revision known and
available. Let me inquire as to what can be done beyond what we are
already doing.
