In your case, you need COMPAT_FREEBSD7. I don't have *any* COMPAT_FREEBSDN options in my config file! In trying to track down the problem, it seems COMPAT_FREEBSD7 is required if one has COMPAT_43 in the config file. Given that /sys/conf/NOTE strongly suggests that COMPAT_43 should remain in one's config file, then is not optional. -- Steve
