Given some second thoughts:

one problem you will have is how to make sure you can easily use mirrors
in your links.  At the moment it would imply that all links will be
towards ftp.freebsd.org.  Which is something we might want to have
pointed to local mirrors.

Nik, is this the same problem as with <blah os="3.1">?  It seems like
it.
