I've had this in /boot/loader.conf.local since the first installation of this
server around 1.5 years ago:

boot_multicons="YES"
boot_serial="YES"
comconsole_speed="115200"
console="efi"

I somewhat accidentally discovered that UEFI supports serial redirection
surprisingly well. With these settings I get output on both consoles, though I
use serial almost exclusively.

TBH this registerdump came out of the blue, the system has been rock solid so
far.
