For spreadsheets, I can't really help much. I've looked at a few, but
it's not something I need very often.  However, you might note that
what's flaky about the StarOffice port is *installation*, not running
it, though I haven't exercised it thoroughly. If you're willing to
spend some $'s and want to support FreeBSD, Applixware Office from the
FreeBSD Mall runs native.
