_POSIX_VERSION=199209 fixes the scripts I checked, particularly entropy and the periodics. although all of these hung in perl, perl was not at fault. I don't mind using the 'fix' to restore the old behavior; it takes care of the immediate problem. However, I do object to GNU's heavy handed removal of a flag which is in extensive use. I don't have a problem with the new syntax, but leave the old one intact -k, --key=POS1[,POS2] start a key at POS1, end it at POS 2 does not specify whether or not multiple declarations can be used --the info page is the same as the manpage. Consistency may be the hobgoblin of little minds, but it sure beats insanity. Whose bright idea was the flag change? Microsoft? They change everything with every version, sort of like NTSC -- Never Twice Same Color. -- I don't need your attitude. I have one of my own.
