No, by default, ppp uses an internal chat facility. ``set log
+chat'' will do the job :-)

Hmm, not sure what you mean there. \\T should expand to the next
phone number in your ``set phone'' list and the TIMEOUT X changes the
expect timeout. They shouldn't be merged.
