They were able to distribute a statically linked copy of Mosaic because their license allowed them to do so. It was a 1.1 Motif rather than a 1.2 (or maybe 1.2 rather than 2.0). Since Marc Anderson sent the mail explaining this, I suspect that he knows the legal license very well. Besides, maybe his company has a special deal with OSF for netscape/java. Warner
