Please help .... I have a 3COM 3c589 pcmcia network adapter. The adapter is operational. On both 4.1.1-STABLE and 4.2-BETA the adapter is initialized and output from both "ifconfig" and "netstat" appears okay. But I cannot ping any host on my network. The error message I get on 4.2-BETA is: ===>> ping: sendto: host is down On 4.1.1-STABLE "ping" will not return for a long time. The host MAC address appears in the route table though. The time is huge when "ping" returns finally after 3-5 mins. Any ideas on what might be the cause?? ifconfig output =============== lp0: flags=8810<POINTOPOINT,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 faith0: flags=8000<MULTICAST> mtu 1500 gif0: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1280 gif1: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1280 gif2: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1280 gif3: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1280 lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x7 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 ppp0: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 sl0: flags=c010<POINTOPOINT,LINK2,MULTICAST> mtu 552 stf0: flags=0<> mtu 1280 ep0: flags=a843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,LINK1,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 192.103.54.235 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.103.54.255 inet6 fe80::260:97ff:fe48:e9b5%ep0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0xb ether 00:60:97:48:e9:b5 media: 10baseT/UTP supported media: 10base2/BNC 10baseT/UTP 10base5/AUI netstat output =============== Routing tables Internet: Destination Gateway Flags Refs Use Netif Expire default 192.103.54.14 UGSc 0 0 ep0 127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 UH 0 0 lo0 192.103.54 link#11 UC 0 0 ep0 => 192.103.54.14 link#11 UHLW 1 0 ep0 => dmesg output ============= Copyright (c) 1992-2000 The FreeBSD Project.
