I have just done a "make installkernel KENRCONF=GENERIC"
and found all the .ko files were installed in the root directory

Is this the new place? I did not notice any message in UPDATING.

After a looking at the Makefiles in /usr/src I found a variable
called KODIR and adding "KODIR=/modules" to the make command
restored the original behavior.

Do I need to set KODIR in etc/make.conf?
