I just figured some rancid >floppy jockey would pipe up. :-) The addition of the hexdigit/hexprint/zeropad to MAKEDEV and rc.network6 has already almost half-undone the 3k space reduction that occurred when the printf builtin was removed. I appreciate your effort to avoid bloat - it just seems a pity to have to add a pile of sh functions to any rc script that needs to do the things that printf did easily.
