Julian,

I tried SOFTUPDATES last night. It completed make world flawlessly :)

I'm just curious about how much improvement in terms of make world time
we suppose to see.

My make world takes with K6/233(66x3.5) 64MB EDO, one 11GB Maxtor IDE,
/usr/{src,obj} on the same partition, NOCLEAN, NOPROFILE, NOTCL:

    01:17 with async,noatime
    01:20 with SOFTUPDATES

I don't have an exact figure for normal case(without SOFTUPDATES, async, noatime)
but I remember something like 01:28 or so.

Thanks

Tammy
