Hello!
My friend and I have both been having
issues regarding unexplained load on
our machines. His was the culprit
today and I finally decided to send it
in to the list. Below is some output
which shows the 2.00 load average
(dual CPU) and the lack of processes
to explain it. I think it's probably
something in the kernel taking the CPU,
however I know of no way to check.
I had the same problems on my machine
about 5 days ago (4.3-RC) except it was
1.00 (single processor) instead.
I am assuming that there are others
having this same problem out there and
would love to get an answer to this.
(Or perhaps it's been fixed? It's very
sporadic(sp?))
I also checked for trojaned binaries in
case someone had put a rootkit on the
machine but could find no traces of
one present. I even checked
/proc/*/status manually and they
matched up with what ps was reporting.
I am doubting this is a security issue
and assuming that again, there is something
in the kernel causing this load.
Any help would appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
- -Jason DiCioccio
