After resume, ls on the disk spat out all kinds of errors. I had to umount= and mount the disk to get it to work. It appears that USB isn't being correctly re-initialized after suspend/resu= me. It's really interesting that dd can pick up where it left off after suspend/resume, even if it fails after a few cycles. I wonder whether the suspend/resume code in MMC is the cause.
