FreeBSD screech.weirdnoise.com 7.0-STABLE FreeBSD 7.0-STABLE #1: Sat Aug 16 19:32:02 PDT 2008 edhall@chirp.weirdnoise.com:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386
>Description:
Seen with the onboard NIC on both a JETWAY JC104B-J7F2WE1G2EOLFLV 1.2GHz VIA Eden mini-ITX MB and a VIA [model unknown] 600MHz VIA C3 Samuel mini-ITX MB. Both NICs report as "VIA VT6102 Rhine II 10/100BaseTX". Driver reports many input errors with correspondingly bad throughput; enabling error messages yields:

    vr0: vr_rxeof: receive error = 0x3<RXERR,CRCERR>

and:

    vr0: vr_rxeof: receive error = 0x23<RXERR,CRCERR,RUNT>

These boards were both fully functional (no Ierrs, expected throughput) with FreeBSD 4.10. The problem was originally seen after an upgrade to 7.0-RELEASE and is unchanged with 7.0-STABLE (cvsuped 2008/08/17).

>How-To-Repeat:
Install RELENG_7 w/GENERIC kernel on affected hardware (likely most any MB with a VIA processor and chipset with onboard NIC). Problem most evident on longer transfers.
