I got around the commit issue by having a UFS formatted floppy with a "etc" directory. In the mfs.rc script, before ". rc", I attempt to mount the floppy, and if successful, copy the contents of "etc" overtop of "/etc". That way, I can fine tune my configuration without reburning CDs.
