I've never tried to run : MAKEDEV from the fixit floppy before, as the nodes I needed has always been : there. I guess it's time to search for more PRs that complained about this. The couple of times I've needed to do this, I've just done the mknod by hand... I also seem to recall hacking MAKEDEV in place to do this, but maybe I didn't...
