... and this was never a problem with OpenBSD because they define INET6 unconditionally in their makefile, so the default snaplen was always 96, regardless of NOINET6. In the FreeBSD port, the INET6 macro is being added to CFLAGS only when NOINET6 is not set, th= us, the difference. Thanks everyone for replies! Regards, Mike.
