I'm having incorrect EOF reporting on a new SCSI tape drive/stacker, which may be related to the error handling fixes in scsi_sa.c ver 1.78. Essentially, the device acts like the EOF flag is not cleared until the tape is taken offline via "mt offline". Not even changing tapes with chio clears the flag, although if you try to read the tape, it gets an IO error and the flag resets. 1.78 It was originally committed in August of 2001, with a 4 week MFC by mjacob, and looks like it might be a bit of work, for which I'd be glad to help with.
