Actually, they aren't that far apart. I have most of the things that are exportable via sysctl(8) for KTR also tweakable from the loader by use of TUNABLE_INT_DECL(). Also, hints aren't currently settable except for during boot. One thing that Mike Smith would like to do (or so he has told me) is to have aa env top-level sysctl node that mapped any names below it to equivalent kernel environment variables, which would require some subtle changes to the way sysctl works, but nothing too drastic. > Warner -- John Baldwin <jhb@osd.bsdi.com> -- http://www.FreeBSD.org/~jhb/ PGP Key: http://www.Baldwin.cx/~john/pgpkey.asc "Power Users Use the Power to Serve!" - http://www.FreeBSD.org/ To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe cvs-all" in the body of the message
